Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLENNART WILLIAM (LEN) OLSON It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Lennart William (Len) Olson of Ashern on March 25, 2001 at the Lakeshore General Hospital. Len was born on November 29, 1922 in Winnipeg. He grew up at Faulkner on the family farm and attended Woodale School. He enjoyed fishing and trapping and all the challenges of cattle farming, especially building and repairing equipment. He worked side by side with his brother-in-law Kitch to make farm work easier. He enjoyed the social life in the Faulkner and the surrounding area. In 1957 he married Ruth Ireland. For the next 20 years they farmed, raised their three children, and were active in the community and church. In 1977, they sold the farm and moved into a new home in Ashern. The next day he began work as a custodian at Ashern Central School where he was a helpful friend to teachers and students for the next 12 and one half years. In retirement, he enjoyed seeing more of the country and was impressed by the vastness of the north and the east. When his health began to fail him in the last year, he still loved the relaxation of watching TV, reading Louis LAmour and visits from friends. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Ruth; son Mel of Ottawa; daughters, Debbie (Pat) and Brenda; and his precious grandson Erik, all of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents, Erik Wilhelm in 1967 and Judith in 1974; his brother Walter in 1940; and his sister Edith in 2000. The family wishes to thank Dr. Piesas for his kindness and excellent care, the staff at Lakeshore Hospital, and Patsy Klyne and all the homecare workers who brought cheer and caring. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29 in the Ashern Gospel Chapel, with Pastor Ivor Grant officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Ashern United Church Cemetery. Arrangements by: Arnason Funeral Homes Ltd. Ashern - Lundar (204) 768-2072
